GET WISDOM

Proverbs 4:5-9

5 Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or turn away from them.

6 Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you.

7 The beginning of wisdom is this: Get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.

8 Cherish her, and she will exalt you; embrace her, and she will honor you.

9 She will give you a garland to grace your head and present you with a glorious crown.”

Our ability to "get wisdom" is contingent upon our capacity to think in a self-reflective mode; to think honestly about our mistakes and the corrective actions we can take. Getting wisdom is a function of our willingness to learn from a mental and emotional stance of genuine humility.

Thankfully, God does not expect us to be perfect. In Isaiah 1:18 God says:

18 Come now, and let us reason together,
Says the Lord,
Though your sins are like scarlet,
They shall be as white as snow;
Though they are red like crimson,
They shall be as wool.

What He does expect is for us to be humble before Him, and to seek the truth, and walk in the truth; His truth (as revealed in the Bible), not some version of the truth that we invent as our own.
