I’m assuming that justification by faith alone is behind us — settled. We have a right standing with God because we have put our faith in Jesus as our redemption and our wisdom and our righteousness (1 Corinthians 1:30). The effort to bring our lives into conformity to God’s imperatives is not an effort to get right with God; our aim is to be conformed to Christ for his glory — from [because of] being right with God.
