ASSURANCE OF SALVATION

How do you know when you’re saved? Because you have the Spirit of God in your heart. How do you know He’s in your heart? “Because He’s in your heart crying, ‘Abba! Father!’” That’s not some generic idea, that is a very specific statement: “Abba! Father!” The Holy Spirit in you is crying. The verb here means a loud, urgent cry from someone in profound suffering, someone in fear, someone terrified, someone in pain, someone in loss, someone who is deeply needy; that’s the word. And what the Word of God is telling us here is that, “You know you’re saved when you get to the point of suffering, and your instant response is to cry out, “Abba,” which means that you are saying, “Papa.” That’s the Aramaic diminutive. You’re saying, “Daddy.” This is the evidence that you are a true son of God; you rush to your Father’s arms. You know He loves you, you know He’s your Father, you know He has all the resources. Unbelievers don’t do that. Source: https://www.gty.org/library/sermons-library/48-20/t...

THE DRAMA OF HUMAN HISTORY

THE DRAMA OF HUMAN HISTORY (the beginning and end - in a nutshell) God creates the heavens and the earth God creates man on the earth Man brings sin into a sinless and pure world by disobeying God Man brings the curse of death upon the world because of sin God promises man the hope of salvation from the curse of death Some humans believe God's word and thereby receive salvation; others do not believe and choose to reject God Those who reject God by not believing His word stray from God and seek to go their own way ("Whoever finds his life will lose it" - MATTHEW 10:39) Those who go their own way seek false God's and abound in unrestrained sin and reckless pleasure seeking Those who rebel against the sovereign will and authority of God live worthless lives and destroy the world by their reckless behavior Jesus Christ comes into the world the first time on a mission to accomplish the act of redemption to save mankind from the curse of sin and death, and eternal damna...

JUSTIFICATION MEANS WE HAVE RIGHT STANDING WITH GOD

I’m assuming that justification by faith alone is behind us — settled. We have a right standing with God because we have put our faith in Jesus as our redemption and our wisdom and our righteousness (1 Corinthians 1:30). The effort to bring our lives into conformity to God’s imperatives is not an effort to get right with God; our aim is to be conformed to Christ for his glory — from [because of] being right with God. — John Piper https://www.desiringgod.org/interviews/how-do-i-know-if-im-doing-enough-for-god

THE INESCAPABLE LAW OF SOWING AND REAPING

This is one of those very important portions of Scripture that every believer should know. In fact, every nonbeliever should know it as well. But it was written for us. Galatians chapter 6, verses 7-10.

WHAT FAITH IS

And we understand that: “The just shall live by faith.” Salvation is by faith and faith alone. That is at the very heart of all of our understanding of the gospel. Hebrews 10:38, “But My righteous one shall live by faith; and if he shrinks back, My soul has no pleasure in him..."
